Checking in

Hello friends. Sorry I've been out of the blogging loop - I was visiting home for a couple of days and I thought I'd have internet access there, but did not... yadda yadda yadda. I'm back now, and madly sprucing the apartment up for Maya's birthday party tomorrow where there will be 4 grandparents and 3 great grandparents in attendance: all, in my paranoid view, judging my merits as a housekeeper.
BUT - I wanted to let you in on the news that Will and I both were accepted to Teach for America! This means that we'll be packing up our apartment immediately, and after working in Montana for the month of June (to answer your question Homesteader ), we'll be training and then moving to some new town or city for the next two years. Crazy times. I'll fill you in when they tell us where they're sending us. For now, I must find the dust in every nook and cranny of this place and destroy it!

Yay! I was just checking in to see if you'd heard anything. I KNEW they would want you both. Yippy, skippy! I'm so happy for you. Don't stress, they're not coming to do a home inspection, they're coming to celebrate the Bird. OHMYGOSH I'm so happy for you. BIG CELEBRATION WEEKEND for the ......MAMARAMMA household. (Don't know your names! Will and Maya and Mama!) Hurray! I love being happy for people. Thank you, Mama, for having such happy news. (Just a little bit nuts here.) Happy, happy birthday, wonderful child, Maya Wren.

Susie -
I happen to have a very good name that is not Mamaramma (which is a silly name that I randomly picked and now am stuck with). Anyhoo, to my friends and family, I am (drumroll, please) SUSAN! I'm glad to share that moniker with a blogger like you. My grandma still calls me Susie and I wish more people did.
Thanks for your well wishes and enthuisasm. I can feel it exploding out of my computer screen!

OH, Susie, you're right, I am exploding for you. That tickles me so much that we have the same name. My whole "family of origin" and Jif and his family call me Susie. Most of the other people in the world call me Susan. The people I keep in touch with from high school call me Sue. I take this all as license to have the multiple personalities that parade around blogworld. Have a terrific weekend. Can't wait to see birthday party pics:)

wow...two Susie's? Now I have to differentiate with Sister Susie and Mama Susie.

What great news for both of you. I know what you mean though about the dust bunny roundup. I know that people come to see me, but I can't stand for my home to be a mess when they do come. Blame it on my Grandmother.

Just because your moving though, you won't go away for good right? I gotta have MayaBird pics to smile at and frequent visits from you on my blog. XOXOXO

Have a fabulous weekend!

SusieMama, CONGRATULATIONS FOR YOU ALL!! How wonderful! And really really exciting!

And happy birthday to Maya! Wooo! I was completely stressed about Punkin's first birthday. Don't do that to yourself. Enjoy it as much as you can. Take lots of pictures and to hell with anyone YOU INVITE INTO YOUR HOME who thinks anything negative about your home. ;)

(Although, I do still get really stressed when people are coming over and the house is a mess... and I have three kids... the house is ALWAYS a mess.)

Oh! And I'm with Greenie! You *are* going to still blog, right? Right?? sayyessayyessayyes

Oh good for you guys! Way to go.

As for the dust rhinos... well, I like to think I learned something from my husband's grandmother... when company shows up just grab everything off the counter and shove it in the dryer. Yes people, try it, it really works.... well, until the next time you go looking for the phone book.
